Welcome to the SoaringDotNet documentation. These pages are set up as a wiki, so everybody is invited to contribute and help setting up the documentation.

Introduction

SoaringDotNet (or short SDN) is a flight preparation and analysis tool targetted towards the soaring and/or paragliding community. Allthough not as powerfull1) as f.i. SeeYou, the price is right. SDN is namely completely FREE!

Main Display

Features

  • Map display showing flight logs, planned tasks, waypoints and SUA items.
  • Zoom in/out of map using mouse scroll wheel
  • Load and display IGC formatted logger files
  • Tool to create SUA (Special Use Airspace) files from DAFIF2) input files.
  • Export airspace to Tim Newport-Peace’s format.
  • Load waypoint files in SeeYou (*.cub), Volkslogger (*.dbt) and CAI/WinPilot (*.dat) format.
  • Waypoints are organized in catalogues. You can merge catalogues, move or copy waypoints between catalogues.
  • Upload flights to the server.
  • Up- and download flights, waypoints and task to/from flight logger. Currently implemented are Volkslogger and Soaring Pilot via serial link.
  • Tool to generate a terrain database for Soaring Pilot from .DEM formatted data.
  • Optimize flights according to the OLC and DMSt rules.
